Sandor W. Shapery
Sandor W. Shapery is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California and has practiced before the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Shapery was also licensed by the State of California as a real estate broker. Mr. Shapery is currently managing his real estate holdings, investments and advanced technology for transportation.
Mr. Shapery was a member of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Infrastructure Committee, former Vice Chairman of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Stakeholders Working Group, an advisory member to the SANDAG Transportation Committee made up of the 18 mayors of all of the cities in San Diego County, a member of the Advisory Committee to the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority and a charter member of the Southern California Leadership Counsel founded by California's four previous Governors. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Save Our Heritage Organization, a 501(C)3 nonprofit Corp, and was again selected as vice-chairman to another SANDAG Stakeholders Working Group charged with preparation of the future Regional Comprehensive Plan update. Mr. Shapery is a member of the Board of Directors of the La Jolla Institute for Immunology, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity ranked as one of the 5 top medical research institutes in the world. Mr. Shapery is also a member of the Kona Kohala Chamber of Commerce and participating on the Affordable Housing Committee and is listed in Who's Who in California and in the National Directory of Who's Who in Executives and Professionals.
Mr. Shapery was one of the founders of the First National Bank, the largest initally capitalized bank at that time in the history of the United States. Other business interests include the sole shareholder of Shapery & Associates, a professional Law Corporation, Columbia Funding L.L.C., and various other ownership entities.
Mr. Shapery, through his Magnetic Trasnport Systems (formerly known as Innovative Transportation Systems Corporation), developed technological advances in transportation infrastructure, including induction powered railroad and co-existent magnetic levitation trains capable of traveling at speeds in excess of 300 miles per hour on existing railroad infrastructure, and linear induction electric buses. Mr. Shapery has licensed this technology to Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.
Mr. Shapery has been a resident of the City of San Diego for more than 60 years but substantially relocated to Hawaii. He graduated from San Diego State University with honors majoring in Political Science. Mr. Shapery attended law school at the University of San Diego where he graduated with honors with a Juris Doctorate Cum Laude. While in law school, Mr. Shapery was a law clerk to Melvin Belli.
Mr. Shapery shares his time with his wife Rebecca between their homes in San Diego, Hawaii and Aspen.
